travelling to Italy in a pandemic

Okay let us start off by saying, these are based on our experiences and might not be the same for you. Of course, rules and regulations change depending on country and who you fly with so keep that in mind.

Is flying in a pandemic safe?

YES

Should we travel abroad in a pandemic?

YES, if you cautious and follow social distancing rules there is no reason why you can't. Lots of countries rely on tourists for the economy, places such as Ubud in Bali are now suffering as the money isn't coming in from the travellers. So please go and support these businesses if it is possible.

AIRPORT

I can't speak for all airports when I say that the differences are staggering compared to pre covid. Majority of the coffee stands are no longer open (understandable) and in the food hall out of the 7 restaurants there only 2 remained opened. Other than this the airport was quiet like eery quiet.

What we will mention is the fact we flew with EasyJet (never a great company to fly with) We have never had a flight with them that has not been delayed and surprise surprise that day it was no different. We originally planned to fly out the day after however due to easyJet merging flights we ended up flying out a little earlier than planned. This also meant that due to merging the flights that the plane was full. Personally, we found that it was impossible to social distance especially being sat so close to a stranger.

ALSO- We realised that Italy has restrictions on what masks to wear so do look this up before you travel, there was a girl who wore a fabric mask and they wouldn't let her board.

LITTLE HICCUP -

Easyjet mistakenly sent us the wrong health declarations forms so when we got to Malpensa we had to fill out the new form before we got through to police checkpoint.

So, when it comes to flying be cautious, wear your mask and bring Anti-bac with you .

TRAIN STATIONS

Again, same story eery quiet. The trains we got on did have seats blanked out for social distancing.

Its actually a lot different in Italy than it is in England, for one they temperature check you when you enter the hotel/villa or shops. (they really need to do this in England) and secondly they really are hot when it comes to social distancing.

OVERALL

We felt safer in Italy than we do in England, maybe its due to them being a little stricter on the rules of they take it a little more serious over there but we would defiantly consider another Italy trip very soon.
