This was without a doubt the best thing we did on our Lake Como trip! We partnered up with a fantastic local company called Lake Como boats. A great company owned by this one guy called Luca Percivale, super nice bloke and super informative about the area and the houses on the lake. Boat tours like this on average start at £360 euros for 2 hours
One thing I really wanted to do was take some great drone shoots of the lake... this almost cost us the drone as it started flying up when we needed it to down and land. Scariest 10 seconds of the trip.
but come on, look at that views. It was a gorgeous morning we went out early - ish which meant less boats on the lake. One thing I loved about this boat which is actually why I picked it as it was more traditional than the others. You can pick a slightly cheaper boat and spend the day on the lake but we had a whole day planned and involved being on land and exploring the beautiful town of Bellagio. However before we get into that, let's share some snapshots of the boat.
Bellagio is a small town just off Lake Como easily reachable by boat from the other neighbouring towns. A little harder if you're reaching it by road. It’s known for its cobbled lanes, elegant buildings and Villa Serbelloni Park, an 18th-century terraced garden with lake views. This garden was without a doubt our favourite thing about Bellagio, we splurged and had a great later/lunch early dinner the Florence Hotel which I highly recommend to anyone looking for somewhere to eat in Bellagio.
Now I find it really pays to do your research when you travel, I have become a huge fan of hashtags especially using this as a search feature.
So when I went on the hunt to find this restaurant/hotel we got there to find it was only us! Of course by the time we left this was full to the brim of people. This was a proper splurge meal with us having not one but two courses. I had steak and Darren picked Pasta, it was without a doubt the best steak of my life. That is no exaggeration this is an absolute must visit. 2 courses each and cocktails ended up over 90 euros.
A beautiful park with lake views that are full of botanical plants and little building dotted around the grounds. I cannot begin to say how many photos we ended up taking whilst at this location. So many beautiful photo opportunities .
The rest of the day was spent shopping, roaming the streets and sampling the local Gelato (this was a boiling day so well deserved)
Have you been Bellagio? What was your favourite part?
