Adventures of a Family of Three: Exploring the World with Our Little One
After an absolute harrowing drive up the east coast chasing daylight we finally ended up in Myvatn.I know its a popular saying in Iceland that weather can change just like that but its correct.
To get here we had to drive hours through snow and ice and some questionable roads but after a solid five hour drive we finally arrived.
Now I will point out by saying this air bnbs customer skills are something to be desired. The air BNB host also have a hotel just 15 minutes drive away so we when we got the directions through to the cabin we went straight there to be faced with a less than helpful member of staff who got angry at us. As this point it was 8pm and it was dark and cold, and to be honest all we wanted to do was have a hot shower some food and then go bed.
So, with her vocally making us very aware how annoyed she was we finally got put in the correct location.
Now ignoring the little hiccup we scored this cabin high due to the cabin itself. Theres a large carpark which is gravelled for the hostel on sight however we drove on the grass which led up straight to the outside of the cabin.
At first glance the cabin is bigger than what we thought it was going to be, with a decking on one side. Inside you walked in and have good size kitchen area with a table and chairs, places to hang your coat and boots. A very good size bedroom and a good size bathroom. The heating was on and that was so welcoming.
Now, it was the little details that made us enjoy the cabin. They had thought of every small thing including hot chocolate. The bed was one of the comfiest we had on this trip.
Cost wise you are around £199.00 a night which is a little expensive but was one of the best ones out there espically if you are doing the ring road. Just make sure to book ahead as this get snapped up very quickly. We booked all our Iceland accommodation 11 months prior to going.
All shops are a small drive but be careful as they shut just after 8.
