Adventures of a Family of Three: Exploring the World with Our Little One
FOOD YOU NEED TO TRY IN ICELAND
Iceland is a haven for all things food from market stalls to traditional restaurants to high end dining there is plenty of variety to pick from. However Iceland is rich in food heritage and culture and provides the most heartwarming dishes.
We have curated our list of ICELAND foods you have to try, minus the fermented shark!
ICELANDS BAKED GOODS
There are plenty of famous bakeries in Reykjavik so you are spoilt for choice. Still to this day our favourite bakery is a Braun (correct me if you need too) they do the most mouthwatering cinnamon buns. Hot and soft out the often! 10/10 recommend!
REYKJAVIK HOT DOG
A hot dog made from a blend of beef, lamb and pork. Matched with crunchy onions, sweet brown mustard and creamy sauce. We first tried one of these from a stall after we went on a day tour to one of the glaciers, it was so warming especially after a cold trip.
SKYR ICELANDIC YOGHURT
A thick creamy yogurt, slightly thicker than the Greek yogurt. Something us English actually stock in our local super market. Top with berries or sugar.
PLOKKFISHER
RYE ICE CREAM
Which is a typical hearty fish stew. Made with vegetables and potatoes this is a heart creamy broth served with bread. All fish restaurants will serve this so make sure you fill your bellies.
Something we have noticed about Icelanders is that they love ice cream. You will see ice cream shops all over Iceland in popular towns, more so the popular one in Reykjavik called valders???? Correct me from the pictures.
